PES-Architects - Shanghai has moved its offices to the French Concession area of the Xuhui District, in down town Shanghai. Their new address is now: PES-ARCHITECTS CONSULTING CHINA CO. China The new office is located in a recently renovated building and gives the possibility for an increase in staff numbers to accommodate the growth in work the office is now attracting.
Wuxi Grand Theatre shortlisted in the World Architecture Festival
Wuxi Grand Theatre has been shortlisted as one of the 16 projects under the category of “Culture” in the World Architecture Festival 2012 (WAF) to be held in Singapore. The festival will be held between the 3rd and 5th October and includes over 500 entries from across the globe. Now in its fifth year, the World Architecture Festival is the world’s largest festival and live awards competition dedicated to celebrating, and sharing architectural excellence from across the globe. Opening Ceremony of Wuxi Grand Theater held on 30th April
On 30th April 2012 the opening ceremony and performance was held in the Wuxi Grand Theater. The hugely successful event was attended by many high ranking members of Wuxi’s local and regional government, representatives of Finland from Shanghai, Beijing and Helsinki and around 50 distinguished guests of PES-Architects Ltd from Finland and China.Read more
PES-Architects - invited design concept for pedestrial bridge in Wuxi, China
Wuxi High Speed Railway Station Business District Administrative Committee invited PES-Architects to design the concept for a new pedestrian bridge in Huishan New City in Wuxi China. The new bridge will be constructed across the central Huishan New City lake and next to the site of a new landmark concert hall and close to the station of the high speed railway line between Beijing and Shanghai. The main architectural concept has been to create an eye-catching urban element, “The Dancing Bridge”, to complement the new concert hall positioned on the opposite side of the lake. The inspiration for the design is a man and a woman dancing – a loving couple. PES-Architects invited WSP-Finland Bridges Department to assist with the bridge engineering design and have employed the latest bridge building technology, which is widely in use around the world. Negotiations about a further design contract are currently being discussed.
PES-Architects win first prize in China, Wuxi Xiehe international school competitions
Client's press release: “August 26, 2011, Wuxi High Speed Rail station launched Wuxi Commercial Zone Xiehe International bilingual school building design competition. Three offices, PES-Architects Finland, Canadian DGBK and Suzhou Industrial Park Institute, were invited to participate in the competition. November 7, Business District Management Committee held a building design expert review. Since Finnish PES design fully reflects the concept of international education, and the perfect combination of communal space and education areas can meet the international school orientation and function requirements, the assessment group determine the Finnish PES design is selected.” Currently PES-Architects is negotiating the architecture and interior design contract with the client and the school operator.
New projects in transportation: Helsinki -Vantaa Airport terminal T1 enlargement
PES-Architects have started the design for the expansion of the domestic Terminal T1 of Helsinki Vantaa Airport. The total area of the enlargement is 12.000m2 with an additional 3.000m2 of alterations to the old terminal. The whole project will be done in Building Information Modeling (BIM), with PES-Architects being responsible for integrating and checking all Architectural, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical BIM-models in IFC-format.
New projects in transportation: Metro stations in Espoo
PES-Architects have started the Schematic Design for six underground metro stations as part of the Matinkylä – Kivenlahti extension of the west section of the Greater-Helsinki metro line. Together with the now under-construction Kehärata light-rail-train underground stations, this project will greatly strengthen our Railway Terminal design expertise.
New office / commercial renovation project
PES-Architecs have started the design for the renovation of a central Helsinki city block consisting of offices and a major department store. The total renovation area is about 34.000m2. The design period will be completed by the end 2012 and construction will take place during 2013 and 2014.
PES-Architects has received a Business License in China
The newly established Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise (WFOE) named PES-Architects Consulting (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. The company has been established to develop and localize PES business activities in China and as a part of our TEKES-projects (Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation). This new enterprise will enable PES to better serve its Chinese clients and partners and to serve our Finnish clients operating in China.

PES-Architects win first prize in Lianyungang-Runke Technology Office Center competition
During the closing gala of China - Interior Design Week 2012, PES-Architects received the China - Interior Design Award in recognition of the excellent overall interior quality of the new Wuxi Grand Theatre and during the China - Interior Design Innovation Forum the Opera House’s lead-architect Pekka Salminen was awarded a special prize for the building’s innovative use of bamboo.Read more
